This weekend was just rubbish! My meticulously planned events unravelled into nothingness. The highlight of my weekend was when the cashier guy from the grocery store where I’d gone to buy a seemingly large tub of ice cream, said I was ‘exotic’. Which by the way, I don’t find flattering, calling me ‘exotic’, what does that mean anyway? Peculiar birds and endangered snakes are exotic, not me! Friday night, I packed away my winter stuff and brought out summer’s skimpys. It was supposed to take 30mins; it ended up a dizzying labouring task lasting 3-hours. On Saturday morning, I had good intentions; I was going running… soon, then I fell asleep and woke up after 5pm. I felt slightly ill so borrowed some chick flicks and watched them throughout the night; I went to sleep after 5am and woke up rather early feeling low, tired, drained and constipated. I spent my Sunday excessively cleaning and washing my hair (really!), I watched tv and went to bed strangely psyched for Monday! Last weekend on the other hand was quite fun. My sister and I went to this great Italian restaurant. It one of those quaint comfy places with dim lights and great music, they even have live jazz on weekends (beats listening to ‘that’s amore’ incessantly). I guess there’re a lot of live jazz playing Italian restaurants; you know what other great blends should be out there?... Indian restaurants with live mariachi bands or Greek with live DJs spinning 80’s disco and europop. So anyhoo… The restaurant owner’s Algerian so he said we were his ‘sisters’ and told everyone that we were this huge singing duo, even though we’d told him that, no, we weren’t the act he’d caught in Montreal at the last Jazz festival. They treated us like stars and we had like 3 attendants at our beck and call and the drinks kept flowing. The food was amazingly yummy and in the end when we asked for the check, he said it was all on the house and that he wanted us to come back! How great a weekend was that? It was massive and wicked! (yes, I have a 9 year old Briton in my building who doesn't shut up!) But that was two weekends ago, this weekend however sucked!
