reflections on that thing i'm living called life!

All in a (Fri)day’s work!

On Friday, I wore an orange (the new white!) t-shirt with a ‘Peace on Earth’ and the peace symbol paint print, a sort of homage to Christmas and the sorry state of (world) affairs. It would seem my boss is quite an authority on the peace symbol; he and I had an almost two hour conversation on the bloody thing! I bet you didn’t know it was designed by an ‘English chap’ called Gerald Ho--something and initially used for the campaign for nuclear disarmament. Oh but there’s more…. but how about I spare you?

A co-worker asked if I was protesting the war in Iraq, there’s a war in Iraq??? Unbelievable! I wear a t-shirt that says ‘peace on earth’ two weeks to Christmas and no one picked up on the holiday vibes! What’s wrong with these people??

The boss and I are doing our obligatory holiday lunch next week; I don’t know why people feel obligated to break bread with colleagues outside of work. Isn’t it enough that you see them every fucking day plus dream about them sometimes on the weekends?

Then again if I’m such a worker bee and deserve a reward how about you give me a fucking raise instead? Why do I have to watch you eat and talk about yourself? That rewards me how? Hello! I can buy my own shitty food!

Oh did I mention I got a raise? No? Well I did, about a month ago and that’s how much excited I am about it! Just as shitty as their attempt at goodwill.

Another co –worker keeps hounding me with this ‘great news’ of hers! She’s taking West African dance at her local community centre. See, I’ll be happy for her too if I knew what the heck West African dance was! How can there be a solitary dance for one region with 17 countries no less, of people with such a diverse heritage and customs? Apparently, the booty dance Beyonce does in her ‘crazy in love’ video is part the West African Dance. Obviously my West African heritage manual didn’t cover that! Shucks!
