Today’s felt like the longest day of my bloody life! The weekend on the other hand, was the exact opposite. I had me one of those generic non-eventful ones. On Friday, I volunteered at the Checkers Diabetes Gala, a black-tie dinner, dance and auction organized by (also benefits) the Canadian Diabetes Association(BC/Yukon Chapter). I had to dress up! I hate dressing up! It makes me feel like a fraud. I wore this sleek long black evening gown with a low back cut and a shawl. Other than that, it was a good evening. Some local personalities from tv/radio/print came out to support us, there was local celebrities too and people (like me) whose lives has been touched by diabetes. With the help of our numerous sponsors, the CDA staff and volunteers we managed to make it a success, we raised $93k. On Saturday I went jogging, went to Metrotown, found it was ‘The Real Canadian Superstore’ and not ‘The Great American Superstore’. I’ve been calling it that for a whole year now! I know… sometimes I forget I live in Canada. Came back downtown and crossed over to Kits for dinner while pretending to watch the Marlins win. Had ribs for dinner, I don’t eat meat that much so it came back out, I think my body’s decided it’s vegetarian after all. Watched ‘Bend it like Beckham’ and ‘Big girls don’t cry’ a German flick. Woke up early on Sunday, paid some bills, took the dinghy to the Granville Island Public Market and got fruits, bread, freshly made stuffed pasta and some cheese. A thick bizarre fog seems to have settled over the city, it’s like the Scottish moors or something. Tried to sleep a bit, there’s a lot of horn blowing going on at sea because of the fog, feels like some harbour town, not conducive to sleep. Tidied the place up, had dinner, gave myself a facial and settled in to watch Charmed, Alias and Nip/Tuck. Today’s word is ~abstemious~ which obviously I am not! I stuffed my face all weekend long, there was finger foods and pizza on Friday, and I had a pack of smarties in the afternoon on Saturday, another pack just before going to bed and yet another pack first thing Sunday morning. So that, in a nutshell was how I spend my weekend.
